Coimbatore: Lakshminarayanan from Peelamedu arrived at the District Collectorate today to hand over an stone weighing 5.300 kg, which had been lying in his house for over 50 years.
It was reportedly after his brother Subramaniyam mentioned about the stone in the house that Lakshminarayanan did some research on the internet and concluded that the stone was from space. He said that he had decided to hand it over to the district authorities to allow for it to be studied by students from NASA and ISRO.

Being Monday, the District Collectorate was milling with people arriving to hand over petitions. Police protection was beefed up and petitioners were allowed entry into the District Collectorate only after proper checking. Hence, when Lakshminarayanan arrived at the Collectorate with a huge stone, it created panic among those present there. Only after explaining himself to the police officers, Lakshminarayanan was allowed to enter.
